Market Heifer Division Added to Adams County Junior Fair

September 14, 2015 - 9:51am -- rowe.316@osu.edu

A market heifer division will be added to the Beef Show at the Adams County Junior Fair in 2016. Market heifers will be judged in their own division, by weight, and compete in the final drive with the steers for overall Market Beef grand and reserve champion. The market heifers will be finished market animals, weighing a minimum of 1,000 pounds at Fair weigh-in and will be eligible to be sold in the Junior Fair Livestock Sale at the end of the Fair.

Market heifers and market steers will be tagged as on feed for the Fair on Saturday, December 5, from 8:30-10:00 AM at the fairgrounds. 2015 exhibitors will receive notice of the tag-in prior to the event. New members are welcome. To be enrolled in a 4-H beef project for the 2016 season, a youth must be at least 8 years of age by January 1, 2016 in at least third grade. Steers on feed for the 2016 Ohio State Fair will also be tagged on December 5.
