Horse Program

Skillathon Details:

All 4-H members and interested FFA members must participate in the applicable Skillathon(s) to earn points for the Outstanding Exhibitor scoring. Skillathons are required for 4-H and optional for FFA. Exceptions: Participation in the Skillathon is optional for youth enrolled in horseless horse project. 

Looking for Skillathon study materials? Ask your advisor to borrow the Skillathon kit for equine from the Extension Office and/or review the materials in the equine resource handbook. Horse members may want to purchase a copy of the Uniform Rules to use as a study guide, as well as a copy of the Beginning Horse Management project book.

Feb. 15 Enrollment deadline day-must be signed up with a club with projects for the current year

April 1 Clubs start riding at Fairgrounds  
May 7, 8 Horse Skillathon-for all horse project members; optional for horseless horse members 3-7pm, Fairgrounds
May 11 Horse Registration 9am-Noon, Fairgrounds
May 11 Equine Fun Show 1:30pm, Fairgrounds
June 1 Equine Ambassador Applications Due - see below for form and rules (completed 7th grade-age 17 must have 1 yr of 4-H eligibilty remaining) Turn in at Extension Office by 4:00 pm
June 6-9 Multi County Horse Clinic - see below for registration information, schedule, health form Adams Couty Fairgrounds, register online (link below)
June 22 PAS Show 10am, Fairgrounds
